Process

How light demo works

  1. 01

    Photo or walk through quote

For simple jobs we quote from photos. For bigger projects we come walk it. Either way you get a written flat rate.

  2. 02

    Schedule the demo

Most light demo jobs we can start within 48 to 72 hours. Bigger projects we schedule a week out.

  3. 03

    Dismantle on site

Reciprocating saws, pry bars, sledgehammers, drill kits. We carry the right tools for each job. We protect surrounding landscape with tarps and barriers.

  4. 04

    Haul away same day

Debris loads into our trailer as we dismantle. By end of job everything is gone. No piles left in your yard for a separate cleanup.

  5. 05

    Site cleanup

We rake the work area, fill holes if needed, and leave the space ready for what comes next (new deck, new fence, grass, whatever).

Light demolition done by one crew, one price

Most demolition projects in residential settings are smaller than people realize. A 200 square foot deck. A 60 foot fence line. A shed and its concrete pad. These are not structural demolition jobs that need permits or engineers. They are light demo, the kind of project where you need a crew with chainsaws, sawzalls, pry bars, and a trailer to take the debris. Texas Junk Boyz handles light demo and haul away together, which means one quote, one crew, one timeline.

The advantage of bundling demo with haul is the trailer. Most demolition projects produce 1 to 3 trailers worth of debris. If you hire a separate demo crew, they leave the debris in a pile and you hire another company to come haul it. Two companies, two coordination headaches, two invoices. We do both in one visit. Debris loads into our trailer as we dismantle, so by the time we are done, the property is clear.

Deck tear downs are our most common light demo job. A typical 200 square foot deck with railings, stairs, and supports comes apart in 4 to 6 hours with a 3 person crew. We pull the deck boards first, then the railings, then the joists, and finally the posts (which we cut off at ground level unless you want the concrete footings dug out). The lumber loads as we go. Composite decks (Trex, TimberTech) take similar time but the composite material goes to the landfill since it is not recyclable.

Fence removal we price by linear foot. A 100 foot fence runs about $500 to $800 plus minimum service. We pull the panels, pull the posts (concrete footings included), and rake the line. Most homeowners replace fence after a hurricane or windstorm, and we work alongside fence contractors so the new fence install happens right after we clear.

For interior tear outs (kitchen demo, bath demo, basement finish removal), the work is heavier on dust control. We hang plastic sheeting to contain dust, work in coordinated sections, and bag debris for trailer loading. Drywall, cabinets, vanities, flooring, and trim all come out and go to our trailer. We do not do plumbing or electrical disconnect (you need a licensed plumber or electrician for that part), but once the systems are shut off and capped, we tear out the materials and haul.

Common questions

Answers, no run-around.

If you don't see your question here, just call or text. We're happy to walk through it.

What counts as light demolition?

Non structural residential demo. Sheds, decks, fences, gazebos, playsets, above ground pools, and interior tear outs (kitchen, bath, closet). Anything requiring a permit or an engineer is heavy demo and we refer to a structural demo company.

How much does a deck tear down cost?

A typical 200 square foot deck tear down with haul away runs $799 to $1,200. Larger decks (400+ sqft) run $1,200 to $2,000.

Will you remove concrete footings?

Sometimes. Small footings yes, large ones (especially with rebar) we may leave in place or quote separately. Depends on the job.

Do you do above ground pool tear downs?

Yes. We drain (you can do this beforehand to save time), dismantle the structure, and haul the metal frame and liner. $599 to $1,200 depending on size.

Can you do kitchen or bath demo?

Yes. We tear out cabinets, vanities, flooring, drywall, and fixtures. Plumbing and electrical shutoff and capping needs to be done by a licensed pro before we tear out. Once that is done, we handle the demo and haul.

Do I need a permit?

For most residential light demo, no. Most cities in DFW only require permits for structural work. Interior tear outs in load bearing walls or work that touches plumbing main lines may require one. We can advise on a case by case basis.

How fast can you schedule?

Small jobs (single shed or fence section) we can often do within 48 to 72 hours. Larger projects (decks, multi day demo) we schedule a week out.
